We guess we’ve become kind of use to the old Ford Crown Vics as the police cars we see traveling the byways of the country.

But now, after six years of work, Carbon Motors has introduced a new car specifically designed and constructed to be used as a police car.

Called the E7, the vehicle will tour the U.S. Its first stop is Chicago, Illinois on October 14.

The car features easy-to-replace body panels, built-in push bars in the front and rear bumpers, and light bars built into the body of the vehicle so they don’t interfere with aerodynamics.

Inside, there is a computer and controls for the lights and sirens. Unlike older police cars, these features have been specifically designed into the E7.

While the E7 prototype tours the country, Carbon Motors will be constructing a factory in which the car will be manufactured. The manufacturer is now negotiating with six states concerning the location of the plant.

A decision on which state will host the factory will be made next year.
