Infiniti prepping to take on BMW 1-Series?

Infiniti G coupes and sedans have proved to be worthy competitors to BMW's 3-series BMW. Same with the oft forgotten M-series as well. The Infiniti crossovers are among the best in their respective classes, too.

Now it seems there is a possibility for a return of the big Infiniti Q flagship line as well as a smaller 1-series-like offering.

The Q faces the biggest obstacles in terms of a comeback as people are now pressing for smaller, more efficient vehicles. Worse, it doesn't help that previous iterations of the Q outside of the original have sold quite poorly.

The little 1-Series competitor, however, has a far better chance of coming to fruition for all the same reasons that the Q will find it difficult. Though little data has been provided, Infiniti feels that rear drive and performance are key attributes to the brand, both important to car enthusiasts like ourselves. Such a compact may not be a successor to the 240 like so many hope, but it should be good.

Our take? The situation for the Q is understandable, but true 1-Series competitor could truly bring the brand to the level of its German competitors.
