Cost cutting and belt tightening is underway in earnest at the towers of the major Detroit auto makers. Assets are being sold, loans are being sought and models are being killed.
Now comes word that Chrysler will be phasing out either the Jeep Liberty or the Dodge Nitro SUV by the 2012 model year. How? Either one or the other will be phased out by merging the two under one nameplate.
Our take? Our bet is the Nitro will explode with Liberty providing justice for all.
