2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportsback's quiet arrival at Paris Motor Show

If you're fans of the Mitsubishi Lancer
Sportsback and Sportsback Ralliart, here's some eyecandy for you.

Full images of the soon to be released Lancer Sportback have surfaced over at Worldcarfans. Unveiled at the Paris Auto Show earlier this week, the images show an altogether different take on what we have known to be the Lancer.

A 5-door hatch similar in guise to its competitor Impreza, the car seems equally polarizing in appearance as the Subaru. No doubt part of the problem being the extra length of the car.

Apart from the looks, the car uses the same running gear as its sedan siblings. Base cars get 109 hp 1.5 liter I4, and there's also a 143 hp 1.8 liter I4. If you prefer oil burners, you can opt for the 140 hp 2.0 liter diesel.

More enticing is the Ralliart variant, powered by a 240 hp turbocharged 2.0 liter four coupled to AWD and the SST dual clutch gearbox from the EVO.

Our take? A shame that it does not carry the same visual presence as the sedan.
