Every manufacturer had some type of SUV in the marketplace to capitalize on their profit margins. The latest fad, it seems, will be the four-door supercar.
Now what's coming is the so-called four-door "coupe". It arguably that Mercedes-Benz began the fad in creating a premium -- the CLS -- that could be purchased on aesthetics alone.
Then came the Aston Martin Rapide. Not even available to the public, the car has resonated through the automotive world by combining the aesthetics of what began with the CLS with true sports car ability.
The hype behind it so strong that Porsche has its own four-door, the Panamera, and Lamborghini will be introducing the Urus at the Paris Auto Show.
The unifying feature of theses cars being their sports car looks, supercar performance, with dash of four door practicality. Better yet, the class is nearly devoid of the market fluctuations affecting the rest of the industry having catered to those who'd have money regardless of the financial situation. It seems, the age of the four-door supercar may soon be upon us.
Our take? Toys for the rich, nothing more. Give us our desirable every man's car.
