Even though Volkswagen seems to have moved away from it people's car moniker in recent years, especially in the US, the German automaker has continued to offer a wide range of models in Europe to satisfy all types of consumers.
Well, with the latest Golf, VW is expanding the range that much further to encompass three distinct trim lines.
First, of course, will be the sublime GTI. Now sporting 10 more horsepower, and chassis developments from the sporty Scirocco, the car is becoming that much better as a hot hatch.
New to the range will be the GTD. Think of it as the kind of hot hatch the GTI would've been if it were powered by a diesel. It's 170 horsepower turbocharged common rail powerplant is nothing to scoff it.
Most exciting to auto enthusiast will likely be the Golf R. Essentially the replacement to the R32 series of recent memory, the car will be all-wheel drive but with a turbocharged 4-cylinder instead of the heavy VR6. Better yet, the motor is likely to be the latest high output version of the corporate four, which in the case of the Audi TT betters 260 horsepower.
Our Take? Golf R please, and in a five door.
