Land Rover Lack of Sales Forces Owner Tata to Transfer Workers

Well, we guess reality has set in.

Tata Motors, the Indian car maker who became a worldwide player with the recent purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover from troubled American automaker Ford, is biting the bullet.

Due to a drop in sales of Land Rovers, the company is “redeploying” about 300 workers at a plant in Halewood, Great Britain and at the main Land Rover production center in Solihull, Great Britain. Also reported that 300 workers were transferred from Solihull to the Jaguar plant in Castle Broomwich.

It is said that there was no work for these employees at Solihull.

Figures show that Land Rover sales in the U.S. have dropped 31 percent from January to July. But these losses are being made up in sales of Land Rover in Russia and China.

I would like to see some news of what direction Tata Motors plans to take Land Rover.. wondering if they will take some chances and really rev things up?
