Honda Alabama Denies Fertility Coverage for Couples

Considering the acceptance of, shall we say, alternative sexual appetites in Japanese culture, it’s surprising that such a company would have this particular sort of discriminatory practice.

Apparently Honda Manufacturing Alabama, LLC is a giant homophobe when it comes to insurance. It does not cover fertility/infertility services of any sort in their insurance for same-sex couples. Even benefits on fertility treatment for heterosexual couples are capped at a lifetime $30,000.00.

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is generally covered under most fertility insurance plans, including everything from in-vitro fertilization to that little bundle of joy. That Honda chooses to deliberately exclude patients like this is unusual to say the least.

Well, the specific branch in question is Honda Manufacturing Alabama, LLC, which happens to be in the heat of the Bible belt, so maybe it isn’t so surprising.

Our take? Alabama! Forsooth, thou art nincompoops!
