This doesn’t really come as a surprise considering just how hard truck and pickup sales were hit in the last six months. We suppose the only reason Prius sales aren’t on top is because of lack of inventory.
Toyota’s Camry sales currently trail the F-series by less than 40,000 units through July. The difference being Ford lost ground with sales down 22 percent compared to Camry posting flat sales.
Chrysler’s spot as No. 3 automaker in the U.S. is also expected to be bumped off by Honda. Meanwhile, Chrysler’s decision to allow employee and retiree discounts to be shared with anyone will apply to Cerberus Capital Management employees.
Our take? The fact that the F-series managed 319,542 sales this year is already surprising to me. We guess there are that many people who don’t feel the gas pinch in their wallets.
