Toyota Motors is reported to be doing an ethanol production feasibility report in Brazil and has teamed up with the local energy company Petrobras for assistance. If things go along to their logical conclusion, then the pairing will develop an ethanol production plant.
In the Brazil auto market alone, flex fuel vehicles control four-fifths of the industry.
Our take? The move seems to be a good one. As ethanol becomes more of a player in the alternative fuel market, Toyota will have some say and will be well prepared to react to fluctuations in the market.
