Toyota to dominate Ethanol Market?

Perhaps automakers, as an acknowledgment that they know what side their bread is buttered, realize they need to have some control of fuel so they can better manage price spikes that affect the market.

Toyota Motors is reported to be doing an ethanol production feasibility report in Brazil and has teamed up with the local energy company Petrobras for assistance. If things go along to their logical conclusion, then the pairing will develop an ethanol production plant.

In the Brazil auto market alone, flex fuel vehicles control four-fifths of the industry.

Our take? The move seems to be a good one. As ethanol becomes more of a player in the alternative fuel market, Toyota will have some say and will be well prepared to react to fluctuations in the market.
