Are you interested in constructing your own electric hybrid vehicle?

If so, then you should check out www.rqriley.com. At that site you will discover the XR3 hybrid designed by Robert Riley, who has designed an assortment of alternative vehicles.

At the website, you can purchase the construction plans for a two-passenger, three wheel hybrid that is said to provide 125-miles per gallon. Called the XR3, the kit features a diesel engine and electric motor which is supposed to have a range of 100 miles only on the battery. It can be plugged into a conventional electrical outlet where it gets an 80 percent charge in nearly two hours.

The plans cost $200. Riley reports that he has received more than 2,500 orders.

Riley also wrote “Alternative Cars in the 21st Century.”

Wow 125mpg is impressive, especially with the prices at the pumps. However if that thing should ever break down or have any mechanical issues, those parts would not just be lying around anywhere. I guess it all depends on the engine and the owners knowledge of the car.
