BMW considers Inline 4 Cylinder to its 3-Series

Fuel efficiency is a money spinner these days, and with the success of the MINI, BMW is looking to offer other economical models.

BMW’s brass is contemplating the possibility of a four cylinder version of its popular 3-Series and 1-Series. BMW’s best seller in Europe is the gas saving 320i, which leads execs to believe U.S. consumers would be more attracted to thriftier models.

Our take? We could certainly use such vehicles now, but even if BMW decides to go through with this, these 3 and 1-series inline 4-cylinders will only hit our shores as early as 2010 or 2011.

A turbo 2.0L with 250+ hp and 30+ mpg would be dandy. :-)
