Long the number two behind massive rival General Motors, the recent strength of Toyota has seen the "Detroit Three" lose the foothold in the market and Ford drop to third place. Rising fuel prices and a lack of desirable small cars and efficient products however, may push the domestic automaker even further down to four.
The reason? Honda.
Toyota's rival is finding success the likes of which it has arguably never seen. Its products are exactly what people want at the moment, so much so that even with the recent down turn of the American economy it sales only fell 1% in the month of July. Ford on the other hand, saw a drastic 14% decrease.
Our take? Ford desperately needs new products, hopefully the recent commitment to bring its European offerings here will be enough.
