Future Honda S2000 taps OSM Concept for a Softer Look

The significance of the Honda OSM concept shown at the recent London Motor Show lay in its foreshadowing the successor to the S2000.

Though the chances of the aesthetic translating directly to a production model are slim, certain design choices stand out especially when in comparison to the current S2000. The aggressive wedge shape of the car has been replaced with a more organic, arguably softer profile.

The rear is the greatest departure from the current car, its sculpted haunches more in line with those of a front wheel drive car. Unlike the front, which is more easily recognizable as an evolution of the current car's design language, containing the same simple, unadorned intake flanked by aggressive headlight clusters. The stretching of the light fixtures all the way to the fenders however creates a similar visual to the back, a de-emphasis of the traditional long hood short deck rear drive style for a more contemporary Audi TT like stance.

Ultimately, look for the car to follow in the S2000 foot steps of good driving dynamics coupled to screaming 4 cylinder motors and open air freedom.

Our take? Not necessarily bad looking, just different what we be expected of a 2 seat Honda convertible.
