One way to make any car instantly more desirable is with more performance. Tack on a name like Prodrive and couple that with limited quantities, and suddenly you have something very desirable indeed.
Impreza WRX-S sees the most disappointing of the current range gain 25 horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque, bigger wheels, and the typical body styling additions. The STI 330S boasts 330 metric horsepower and 346.6 lb-ft of torque. Again bigger wheels are offered as part of the package, as well as Sat-Nav, leather Recaros, and keyless entry.
Also on show was a 380 metric horsepower STI 380S concept. Unlike the other offerings, the power increase necessitated more than simple bolt ons and ECU tuning. Therefore, production is not guaranteed as will it be expensive with its engine buildup, however if Prodrive sees the demand, chances are it will be produced.
Our take? It suddenly look less like a Mazda 3 and more like the rally racer we so love.
