Four dollars a gallon seem too much? How about paying double? Or imagine living in a developing nation (it really is unfair terminology) where you're paying the same as Americans who are complaining while earning less than half as much?
Some three-fourth of the world's nation paying more on average than Americans. Europeans especially have been paying more for years now, with their governments often levying taxes on to the sale of fuel in excess of what is the norm here in the US.
Ultimately though, the reality is that costs are likely to rise worldwide, as the subsidies offered in the nations who are paying less are starting to feel the strain, and global demand is increasing.
Our take? Perhaps global high prices will benefit the auto industry, cars designed for one market will be perfect for other markets, and maybe car costs will even go down.
