Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS looked on as General Motors Saviors

General Motors economic troubles are long documented now, but with the upcoming introduction of a series of new models it becomes even more dire.

It boils down to this: if these models fail as saviors, it may signal the end of the world's largest auto maker.

Key to the success of GM will likely fall to the Chevrolet Cruze and to the Cadillac CTS coupe and wagon variants.

The significance of the Cruze lay in the fact that is the replacement of the long-in-the-tooth Chevrolet Cobalt. In essence, it will be GM's lone entrant into the hotly contested, entry level, high efficiency, small car category, which is set to become lucrative in the wake of rising fuel and costs of living expenses.

The Cadillac CTS variants are important into bringing the Cadillac brand up to the level of a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz has to be proven as well spent. Outside of also providing greater profit margins in their higher price category, Cadillac provides a valuable halo effect for the whole corporation.

Our take? There is one important aspect of all these cars that is not to be overlooked, all these cars are among the better looking offerings in their respective classes as well. Couple that to levels of quality that have not been seen from GM in years, the cars have a good chance of succeeding.
