As a product becomes more popular -- and the technology used becomes more cost effective -- the retail price of the product falls making it more affordable. That is currently the case with HD Radio.
iBiquity Digital Corporation, The group that started HD Radio, has announced that the price of the new HD radio receivers will be less than $100.
The new price is 30 percent less than what it was just one year ago. Meanwhile, HD Radio added a number of new features including iTunes Tagging, and iPod docks and compatibility.
HD Radio is available to about 83 percent of the country. Moreover, there are more than 1,700 HD Radio stations and more than 800 new FM multicast channels. These channels are exclusive to HD Radio and no subscription fee is required.
Companies that are offering as many as 60 unique models of HD Radios include Polk Audio, Dual, JBL, Alpine, Kenwood, Jensen, JVC and more.
