Once the bastion of the Japanese auto industry, even Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. will soon producing hybrids of its own.

Hyundai expects world wide sale to begin by 2010. However, it is set to offer the cars in its home market by next year.

According to the Hindustan Times, key to Hyundai's strategy is the use of both the low production costs, and developmental abilities of its Indian branches. As a center for small, inexpensive cars worldwide, the automaker will keep be able to keep the price of its hybrid prices low, an important selling point as the hybrid market gets more crowded and consumers more informed about their options.

Our take? The Korean onslaught continues.

So does that mean the R&D is being done in India, or that the hybrids are going to be built in India?
