We would hate to be a HUMMER dealership at the moment.
Ward's Dealer Business reports that rumors are swirling around General Motors’ division that the nameplate will be dropped. Nothing new there.
Sales are just not good for the once mighty Hummer. May deliveries dropped a terrible 62 percent over the same period last year. Through the first five months of this year, sales are 36 percent lower than the same time last year.
So what are the dealers doing? Some have said that they had plans to expand or improve their dealerships but GM told them to hold off. Interestingly, this is a good thing: When Olds dealers inquired about enhancing their stores, GM told them to go ahead and all the while knew that they were considering the ax come down on the brand.
Our take? We recommend HUMMER dealerships to seriously start considering dropping the brand or pricing the land. Fast.
