Perhaps the best hope for the future, the hydrogen fuel cell car, will soon be here.
Honda intends to sell its fuel-cell powered FCX Clarity in California. Specs for the car include an electric motor that generates 127 horsepower. It can produce more electricity than needed to power all the gadgetry found in the vehicle.
The Clarity is said to have a fuel efficiency of 79 miles per gallon equivalent in city driving and 68 on the highway.
The car will be leased for $600 a month. Honda says that they plan to produce a total of about 200 Claritys during the next three years. It has not been announced how many will be dedicated to the California market.
Honda projects that it will cost it $1 million to manufacture each car.
