General Motors Should Keep Hummer

The current economic climate may force General Motors to part ways with Hummer. The most likely purchasers would come from abroad, especially since places like the Middle East, Russia, and South America still crave Hummer-like vehicles. (Hmmm. All oil producing regions. Notice the trend?)
Rumors mention potential bidders as Tata Motors, recent purchasers of Land Rover and Jaguar; rival Mahindra & Mahindra who lost out on the Land Rover and Jaguar sweepstakes; or any number of Chinese companies looking to gain instant credibility. Russia's Oleg Deripaska, owner of carmaker OAO GAZ, has been suggested as a suitable buyer.
Ultimately the question becomes, should GM revamp the brand giving it a green twist and keeping it within the fold, or should it sell it of while the name still means something?
Our take? GM should keep the brand. We suggest move Hummer away from being a volume producer and instead making it a niche producer like when all it offered was the H1. Catering it to the rich clientele who could care less about the price of gas. More importantly, it should shift its focus for the brand to the international marketplace, where its desirability can make it a cash cow like it once was for us here.
