We did a blog within the last few days about Toyota’s plans to include a solar panel on its next generation Prius that will generate the energy needed to work the air conditioning system.

Well, here are some more details:

Normally the air conditioning system is powered by the car’s engine and that makes the engine work that much harder. That means more gas consumption and more carbon dioxide emissions. The solar panel and also the inclusion of an electric motor does away with all of that.

Can solar panels be used to power an entire car? Before you say no, consider this. A company based in the U.S., SEV, has constructed and is now demonstrating a solar powered Prius. It is said that the car improves mileage by about 29 percent and gives an electric only range of 20 miles.

Oh. The car will also include automatic self-parking.
