Rising fuel costs are causing automakers around the world to do things they don’t want to do.

Recent decisions by GM concerning Hummer has indicated to many that it is considering the ax. For example,  the GMT-700 H3 has been canceled and the H4 is being sustained for the next owner.

It's not just Hummer that might be on the chopping block. Talk is that either the GMC or Pontiac line may be dismissed. GMC sells mostly trucks and they have been dissed ever since the price of gas has reached the stratosphere.

A recent online poll was taken asking respondents which GM division they believed would be dropped. Here’s the tally:

  • Buick  12.85%
  • Cadillac 1.12%
  • Chevrolet 0.56%
  • CMC 56.42%
  • Hummer 46.93%
  • Pontiac 20.11%
  • Saturn 20.11%

Our take? Looks like the public agrees with the rumored plans.
