Pininfarina Hyperion Brings Pre-War Elegance to Modern World

Hyperion.

Even its name sounds over the top.

But those lucky enough to be at this year's Pebble Beach Concourse de Elegance, they will be treated to the sight of Pininfarina Hyperion.

Based upon a Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe, the Italian-built car is said to be an homage to the pre-war era of coach-built autos. It's fitting that Rolls would be building this full-sized (and how!) sedan: only the likes of it -- and perhaps Bentley -- still produce cars with same size, elegance, presence, and shear over the top style, and therefore making them a perfect starting point for Pininfarina's always gorgeous sheetmetal

Our take? Only a one off Pininfarina could truly be the equivalent of a pre-war coach built car in the current era.
