Future Honda NSX preps to take on Nissan GTR, Lexus LF-A

Honda CEO Takeo Fukui has committed the company towards knocking the Nissan GT-R off its newfound pedestal as “King of the 'Ring.”

Having circumnavigated the "circuit of circuits" or the Nurburgring, in a mere minute and twenty nine seconds, the GTR cemented its status as the premier Japanese sports car. Note the title was owned for ages by Honda with its NSX.

A title Honda wants back.

The first step is the promise by CEO Takeo Fukui  that the next Honda NSX will not only be faster than the GT-R, but the Lexus LF-A as well, a car also looking to knock the GT-R off the top spot.

Our take? Don't underestimate Honda. For those of you of Playstation Generation who know of the NSX as nothing more than an underpowered also-ran, understand that at its introduction it was more significant in the influencing of the industry than the GT-R will ever be.

The original NSX is the reason Ferraris are what they are today. It featured all aluminum construction, brought to the forefront what has become de rigueur in variable valve timing with its VTEC, everyday usability, reliability, and a chassis tuned by the late, great, Ayrton Senna. Need we say more?

If the next NSX lives up to up to its predecessor, it will be a revelation of a car, and one that even 10 years on from its introduction, still world class.
