Chevrolet Volt Positive to Go while HUMMER is Negative

There is no doubt about it. Fuel economy is the word that is influencing the current decisions of the execs at the Detroit Big Three.

That is why General Motors has given the green light for the production of the Chevrolet Volt concept while the Hummer SUV is going through a “strategic assessment.” That means the brand may go on sale. Or its product line up may be re-worked. Execs have not said when a decision will be coming.
GM has also announced plans to develop a small global car which will replace the Chevrolet Cobalt. The vehicle will feature a turbocharged 1.4 liter, four-cylinder engine which, with a manual transmission, offers a gas savings of 9 mpg over current engines used in this segment. GM is expected to start production of the new compact in mid-2010.

GM has also given the green light to the production of the next generation Aveo. The subcompact will be sold in the U.S. around 2010.

My how the tables have turned. I don't see very many companies eager to buy Hummer, except maybe a Chinese or Indian one.
