Jaguar Sales Leaping Up, Up, and Away

You know that old question, “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” Well, we may never be able to answer that question. But one similar question we can answer is, “What came first, Jaguar profitability or ownership of Jaguar by Tata Motors?”

No doubt the answer to the question is that profitability came first. But new Jaguar owner Tata is sure benefiting from it.

According to Leftlane News, Jaguar sales were up 69.6 percent last month, marking the brand's first sales increase since July 2006. For the first four months of the year, Jaguar sales were up 0.4 percent.

Many pundits point to the success of the new XF for Jaguar’s gains. But demand has also increased for the Jaguar X-Type and XJ sedans.

And let’s not forget Land Rover. That newly acquired brand is not selling that well in Europe but worldwide sales in April actually set a record.

Our take? Does Tata have the Midas touch?
