If you're living in the UK, want an electric Land Rover but don't want to wait for Tata to build one, well, you're in luck.

The Birmingham Post reports that local Liberty Electric Cars is looking to beat Land Rover to the punch by introducing its own electric power train system to be installed into the SUVs.

Not cheap by any means at an asking price of up to £125,000 (over $245,000!), the company none-the-less feels there will be a market for its ability to create conversions of both high end SUVs and cars.

Its first offering to be is the aforementioned Range Rover priced between £95,000 and £125,000 (over $186,000 and $245,000 respectively). For the sake of comparison, the regular version are priced between £56,000 and £72,700, or $110,000 and $142,848 respectively.

The operation consists of the purchasing a standard Range Rover and then stripping out al of its mechanicals. Once retrofitted with its electric components, the SUV supposed to deliver a 200 mile range with no loss of the brands off road abilities. The use of the latest charging equipment promises a drastic reduction in charging times.

Our Take? An interesting idea for those with the coin to try it.
