The company has admitted the need to cut down the number of SUVs it offers by half. So far about four models have been dropped.
No new car models will be introduced next year. Instead, it will concentrate on improving the vehicles it is currently selling. Chrysler says that it has spent $500 million on more than 400 minor improvements to existing vehicles.
Chrysler is in the process of introducing three Dodge vehicles to the market this year. This includes the Journey, the Challenger, and the Ram pickup. However, it will not build a version of the Dodge Journey SUV in 2009. Instead, it plans to release the new compact, a new version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs and a redesigned Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedan in 2010.
