Just when the Detroit Three are claiming that they didn’t see the shift in demand from trucks and large SUVs to smaller, more gas efficient cars, Ford unveils a souped up F-150, the result of their teaming with motorcyclist manufacturer Harley Davidson.
This is a special edition F-150 SuperCrew with a 300 horsepower, 4.6 liter, V-8 supercharged engine. Also available is a 5.4 liter, V-8 supercharged engine as an option.
Exterior is all-black or two-tone black with vintage copper lower paint accents. The interior exhibits similar colors with die cast Bar & Shield logos embedded in the leather. Drivers will love the oversized beer tap handle in lieu of the shifter. The pedals are in brushed stainless steel.
Options include a rearview camera
Our take? No doubt this vehicle sounds cool. And if there wasn’t a gas crisis, maybe Ford and Harley would get a lot of buyers. But now? Perhaps a better joint venture for the two American icons is to produce a new small car based on a motorcycle design. A small car with great handling and because of its modest size, a real gas saver. But who are we but blog writers. Those execs in the towers know more than us, right?
