Just when we think the muscle car is dead because of the cost of gasoline, now comes word from Ford that it may be considering the construction of a modern day version of the Falcon GTHO.

It is said that the new Falcon GTHO would feature a V8 and will be faster than any Falcon ever made. Price tag could be as much as $125,000.

Ford Performance Vehicle director Rod Barrett says that he is pursuing the production of such a vehicle and that he will continue to pursue it as long as he’s with Ford Performance Vehicles.

An example of why the Falcon GTHO has such a great reputation can be seen in the Phase III GTHO which was introduced in 1971. it was the most desirable muscle car in Australia and it was considered to be the fastest four door car in the world. Phase III GTHOs continue to sell well in auctions. About 300 were constructed in the 1970s and it is believed that only 100 remain. One GTHO was acquired for $750,000 (Australian) in a recent auction.
