McDonalds as a Fueling Station?

Will there be a time when McDonald’s, known for its hamburgers and french fries, could be a rival for Exxon-Mobil in the production of fuel for cars?

A McDonald’s franchise owner in Glendale, Arizona is using old oil from deep fryers to create biofuel.

How? After the oil is used in a deep fryer, it is removed and stored in containers where it separates into a liquid and solid. The former becomes biofuel after it is processed through several filters. After the filtering, it can be poured right into a vehicle’s tank. Note  the oil has to remain hot so that it won’t solidify.

The owner uses the biodiesel in his modest fleet of three Ford F-250 super duty diesel trucks. The solid is glycern, which is used in cosmetics and lotions.

Our take? Let’s see, we guess by 2020 we will all be complaining about the amazing quarterly earnings of McDonald’s while Exxon-Mobil will just be a fading memory.
