It was reported in this blog recently that Tesla Motors is suing Fisker Coachbuild for allegedly stealing design ideas and trade secrets. But Fisker Automotive says that its Karma hybrid sports/luxury sedan is still progressing toward production.

Right now three prototypes are being tested. The Karma is expected to have a range of 50 miles when running on electric power alone with a top speed of 95 miles per hour when running in electric-only or “stealth mode.”

But when put into “Sport Mode”, the internal combustion engine adds a boost, launching the vehicle to achieve 0-60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds. Top speed is said to be 125 miles per hour in this mode.

Fisker says that he still expects the car to be delivered for sale in the fourth quarter of 2009. But the lawsuit with Tesla may have something to say about that.

The car was first unveiled at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January.
