America will soon be offered the Ford Fiesta once again after a decades-long absence.

The diminutive little car arrives in response to Americans' growing desire for an inexpensive, practical car, with great mileage and no compromises in terms of style and quality.

Already near the top of its class in Europe, the latest Fiesta will bring Ford's European aesthetic to the states, as well as the high quality construction that European Fords are praised for, and which our domestic cars seem to lack.

The US disdain for hatches, however, will see us offered a sedan version.

Though the success of the car is not guaranteed, the Fiesta could do much to at least begin the changing of American tasted on the subject.

At the very least, the offering of the Fiesta provides Ford an entrant into the hotly contested B-car segment currently populated by the Aveo, Fit, Kia Rio, Versys, Yaris, etc. as well as a means to help meet the soon to arrive higher CAFE standards.

Our take? It will take more than simply offering the car here, regardless of market conditions, Ford should bring the fast, fun, desirable ST versions that are available alongside standard variants elsewhere.

Obviously you missed your mark with your disdain on hatchbacks. We Americans have a disdain for tiny trunks that get wet everytime it rains or snows.

I prefer the hatchback when grocery shopping. Can you get me one of these in Emerald Green with Beige interior, a 5-door hatchback, automatic transmission, power steering, and heated seats? The hatchback also lets me see out the rear window better so I don't back over the kids bikes.
