General Motors got another boost to it confidence when its 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid was rewarded with the 2008’s Best Engineered Vehicles by Automotive Engineering International.

Automotive Engineering International is a magazine published by the Society of Automotive Engineers and is based in Pennsylvania.
The magazine readers and editors appear most impressed with the two mode version of hybrid featured on the Yukon. The system, also used by Toyota, allows the vehicle to run on electricity and gasoline or a combination of both.

Both 2008 two-wheel drive Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid and the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid get 21 miles per gallon in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The four wheel drive versions get 20 mpg in the city and highway.

The two mode hybrid technology will also appear on other GM
models in the coming years.

The award is based on votes of editors and readers of the magazine.
