Dodge Challenger gets Guaranteed Market

Baby boomers flipped when Dodge first introduced the Challenger in the 1970s. The generation was just the right age and mind set and the environment was just right for a five passenger performance muscle car. The cost of filling up the gas tank was not yet a concern.

But with the gas crunch coming upon us later in the decade and effecting us pretty much from that point on, the muscle car like the Challenger kind of faded into the vapors of history.

Recently these cars have been making a comeback. And the Dodge Challenger is one that is coming back. Chrysler/Dodge executives believe that the car will attract the attention of the baby boomer’s kids -- Generation X.

Generation X has been on the Internet showing an interest in the Challenger. According to the Detroit Free Press, the sought-after "youthful market" knows little, if any, of the brand's history. Instead, as Toyota's Scion brand proved, they're much more interested in the individualistic styling of the retro muscle car.

Our take? What's old is new again.
