As you consider more and more about buying a hybrid because it can save on gas and yet you like your old car because it fits you like an old shoe, do you think you are on the horns of a dilemma? You may think so. But you’re not.
Poulsen Hybrid is a start up company in Connecticut, that claims that they can convert your old car into a plug-in hybrid for an affordable price of less than $4,000.
The system used to convert cars include two Poulsen Hybrid electric motors, a Deep Cycle Lead Acid battery pack that includes six batteries and an onboard charger. They say that such a turnover can get your car in the 100 mpg range.
The system will be offered in a kit and can be installed by the owner of the vehicle in about three to four hours. Dealerships will also be opened that will do the conversions and a network of authorized installers will also be available to do the work.
Our take? Interested parties should deeply look into their needs and their wallets before attempting such a conversion. Note such tinkering usually invalidates any warranties on the car offered by the manufacturers.
