First Microsoft developed SYNC for Ford. Now comes word that Microsoft has licensed the technology to Hyundai-Kia.
Besides all the functionality of Ford's system, the new product can be added or upgraded via software program updates.
It is said that the system will be available in the 2010 model year. Note that since Ford owns the name “SYNC,” the technology will be known as something else in Hyundais and Kias.
Our take? We're still waiting for cars that drive by themselves. Hmmm. Not sure if we'd want Microsoft to be involved in that project.
