Chrysler In-Car Internet Lowdown

Last month, Chrysler announced that it will be offering in-car Internet access to its vehicles later this year. The technology will feature WiFi and 4G connectivity.

Available through the automaker's custom arm Mopar as an aftermarket option, it will be available in future models.

The system will deliver e-mails, movie and music downloads directly to the vehicle and will be compatible with Chrysler’s optional MyGIG multimedia system. Unfortunately, MyGIG is not available on some Chrysler vehicles including the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass. Chrysler will have to add MyGIG to future generations of those vehicles.

Our take? We can already see a cell-phone-esque type ban in the works as this system comes closer to fruition. Cars are for driving, folks!
