New York Times reports that Tesla Motors, a CA-based company that has created the Tesla electric sports car, has sued Henrik Fisker, chief executive officer of Fisker Coachbuild, and Bernhard Koehler, chief operating officer. Apparently the latter may have stolen some of Tesla’s design ideas and trade secrets to produce an electric car of their own.
Tesla argues that Fisker had no experience with electric hybrid technology prior to taking on the project for Tesla. They also argue that the work done by Fisker was not only unsatisfactory, but that the latter had actually sabotaged its project.
The suit seeks to stop Fisker from using Tesla design documents and also demands that Fisker return the money Tesla paid to him along with punitive damages.
Our take? Are we seeing the beginnings of an electric vehicle war?
