Today, just about every region has a country that is looked upon as a major market. BMW, for example, recognizes Malaysia as a key growing market.
BMW points to the fact that it sold 3,300 vehicles in Malaysia last year. And that helped its growth of sales in the region over a four year period to nearly 60 percent.
The country has been emerging as a better market because of its steady economy, good infrastructure, growing affluent middle class and a large urban population. In fact, the German automaker has become so impressed with Malaysia’s potential it will be creating a new plant in the country in a joint venture with Malaysian company Sime Darby Bhd. It is estimated that the plant will be up and running by the end of the year.
BMW has already announced that the 3 and 5-Series vehicles will be manufactured there.
