It seems that the Chrysler of the Cerberus era is into high tech as far as designing their cars are concerned.

For example: 'morphing'. Auto designers are using computer morphing and that is helping to cut as much as 10 months time out of the development of a new vehicle. It is said that design time is typically 31 months.

Expect to see two mode hybrid systems on such cars as the 2009 Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen SUV. Chrysler says that this feature increases fuel economy by 25 percent over all.

Other examples include:

  • An infrared based adaptive cruise control option will be available for an extra $595.
  • Suspension upgrades on the ‘09 Charger and Chrysler 300.
  • The 2009 Dodge Ram will the first ever coil spring on a conventional pickup. The new suspension is said to be lighter and improves the ride and handling without affecting towing or hauling.
  • Chrysler will be including back seat satellite television and in-car connectivity that will allow the vehicle to use WiFi. Safety improvements are also planned that include blind spot detectors and a rear cross path detection system to stop parking lot accidents. This system will also appear on the company’s minivans. The WiFi is available through Mopar. In addition, ‘09 Chryslers will offer enhanced voice activation entertainment and communications systems as well as Sirius Satellite TV in minivans.
