Microsoft SYNC goes beyond Ford

Ford Motor Co. has experienced a sales boom on models that include Microsoft SYNC, a voice command system for the car’s entertainment system. People have been attracted into buying cars from Ford because of the system.

Now comes word from Microsoft that the technology will be offered by other companies.

Ford’s exclusive agreement with Microsoft ends at the end of this year. Already two car audio suppliers, Alpine and Continental, are currently working on their versions of SYNC.  Meanwhile, Microsoft is already working on the next generation technology. Just like the Army when they work on hush-hush secret projects, Microsoft has given a code name to the project. It’s called Talladega.

I haven't been able to find anything more out about this on the internet. Did they change the name?
