For Tata Motors, this is the time the rubber meets the road as far as their management of Jaguar and Land Rover. The decisions that will make Jaguar and Land Rover successful or unsuccessful are now the responsibility of the Indian car manufacturer.

And, according to reports, the company is taking up the responsibility with gusto.

According to Automobile Magazine, Tata has already developed and unveiled a five year plan to build more Jaguars and Land Rovers. One of the new Jaguar vehicles is expected to be the XE -- a two seater sports car currently in the planning stages. The car is slated for release around 2012.

As for Land Rover, the announcement from Tata is said to encourage support for the three-door LRX concept which was exhibited at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. There are also reports that Land Rover is talking with the Indian government about building thousands of Defender models for the Indian military.
