When Fuel Economy is a Priority

There are some brand new cars that haven't been driven off the lot yet, are affordable, good in the eye of resale, and will give you pretty darn good mileage.  What'd ya say?

"No car is profitable resale," you say.  "A car depreciates the second you drive it off the lot!"

Okay, nobody's disagreeing with you, but a great deal on a new, economical, '07 or '08 model might be just the ticket.  Consider that driving an efficient car that gets approximately 30 mpg costs you less money to buy, less money to fill with gas, less money to insure, and less money to maintain.  The United States Department of Energy says by driving a car that will give you 30 mpg compared to a larger car, say an SUV, that will only give you 20 mpg or less, will save you $775.00 per year if you drive 15,000 miles annually.  That's nearly $5500.00 over a seven-year period.

Need some more convincing? Insurance companies also love "green" cars; insurance costs are lower with environmentally friendly cars and gas costs only nip at your wallet instead of taking a huge chomp.

So what are some of these "paragons" of fuel misers? Howe about the Honda Fit and its 28 City/ 34 Highway mpg under $15,000? Or the $10,895.00 Chevrolet Aveo and its 24 City/ 34 Highway MPG.  Convinced yet?

Our take? It makes "cents" driving a sensible car!
