Did you know that the German auto maker Volkswagen makes trucks?
According to the Car Connection, the truck, called the "Robust" was seen being tested on the frozen tundras of northern Scandinavia.
The images show a vehicle that looks a lot like a Toyota truck. Talk is, though, the Robust is inhouse.
The VW will come in single and double cab versions and will include four-wheel drive as well as two wheel drive. Engine choices are suppose to include a diesel engine (of course) and maybe a V-6 gas engine for some markets. Volkswagen is saying that the Robust is not going to be seen in the U.S. market. Instead, it is destined for South America, Africa and other “wayward” markets.
Our take? The way we love trucks in the U.S. would anyone be surprised that it might find its way on to our shores?
