CLEVELAND, Ohio, February 22, 2008 – Lincoln, 2007’s fastest growing American luxury brand, and Grammy Award-winner Common are placing the spotlight on the best and brightest aspiring lyricists in the new “Lincoln Spotlight” music contest.

The Grand Prize win is $10,000 and a coveted opening for superstar Common at one of his 2008 performances. The contest was officially announced today at the Cleveland Auto Show, in the hometown of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

“Lincoln Spotlight” is an on-line music contest open to the public and invites aspiring lyricists to create an original song and video using tracks available at www.lincolnlounge.com. Participants can invite friends to join other lincolnlounge.com visitors to vote on favorite entries. The Lincoln Spotlight Grand Prize champion will be determined by Common and a select panel of music industry insiders.

“Music continues to play a rewarding and unique role in our culture,” says Tom Grill, Lincoln Brand Manager. “The Lincoln Spotlight provides an outstanding platform to celebrate music and at the same time to allow us to shine a spotlight on many talented, yet undiscovered individuals, and to build a community of fans and supporters much like the phenomenon of other viewer-voted reality talent contests.

Lyricists who enter the “Lincoln Spotlight” contest must create original lyrics and a video articulating their interpretation of one of Lincoln’s brand truths that includes advancing the American dream, exploring what it means to reach higher, daring to do more and pride in one’s history. Submissions must be between two to five minutes in length with use of one or more of the free tracks provided at www.lincolnlounge.com as part of the “Lincoln Spotlight” contest. Submission deadline is March 17 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Online viewer voting will determine the top lyricists. The top twenty-five will advance on March 18; the top twenty will advance on April 1st; the top ten on April 15th; and the top five will advance on April 29th.

On May 6 at noon EST, following a review of the top five finalists by Common and a panel of music industry experts, the Lincoln Spotlight Grand Champion will be announced. Judging will be based on originality and creativity, verbal technique and visual sophistication. Official rules and submission guidelines are available on www.lincolnlounge.com, Lincoln’s all-new urban lifestyle web site.

Lincoln and Common
In fall of 2007, Lincoln and rising star and Grammy Award-winning performer Common announced a multifaceted marketing alliance to promote the 2008 Lincoln Navigator and other brand initiatives. The exclusive partnership includes Common’s appearances in national television broadcasts, radio and print advertisements that debuted in 2007. Lincoln will additionally work with Common in developing other on-line and off-line cross-promotional and marketing programs, and Common will perform and make personal appearances on behalf of Lincoln at auto shows and dealer events, and will be an integral component of other Lincoln events.
