Don't mess around with Chrysler!
Plastech Engineered Products, a company that makes dashboard and cabin parts for Chrysler (and was trying to paddle out of troubled financial waters), found its butt being sorely kicked by the "So long!" legged Chrysler boot. Spurs and all! Dang, that hurts.
Apparently, Detroit automakers like to shoot the knees of companies that don't give the goods on time. As a result of Chrysler's goodwill and patience (ahem) with the failing company, Plastech need worry no more about providing services to the Detroit firm.
Chrysler watched Plastech do a graceless belly flop into the cold concrete court of bankruptcy. Rude? Well, last year Chrysler tried playing saint and savior to help out flagging supplier teams to the tune of $150 million. The suppliers couldn't turn that expensive water into wine. Worst, the well went dry so no payback to Chrysler. No amen to that!
Our take? It's a long fall from grace. Still, Chrysler needs to remember: automakers need suppliers. Piss off the suppliers and the word spreads to other suppliers. Uh-oh. Chrysler might find itself back in the Stone Age manufacturing Fred Flintstone vehicles. What do we need dashboards for anyway? Yaba-daba-doo!!!
