GMC and Chevrolet trucks with the 8.1 L V8 engine have crankshaft position sensors that are causing big problems. The ineffective sensors are causing engines to stall.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted a bulletin about this issue and the organization is hoping to reach as many owners as possible even if an affected vehicle has changed hands.
The faulty part, in an unlikely scenario, could cause an unwanted accident, not that any accident is ever wanted. GM will make the repair free of charge so it's well worth the effort to have the part checked out.
Even if an accident doesn't happen, thankfully, because we don't want any injuries or deaths, you certainly don't want your engine to stall on a dark, cold night in the middle of nowhere or even in the middle of somewhere. So, get going and get your sensors situated! For more information, call Chevrolet at 800-630-2438 or GMC at 866-996-964.
